I also have positive experience with LineageOS.  On an older Nexus
phone.

The details escape me right now, but I really like how ROM games are
being played on Nexus+Pixel phones, with alternative recovery
partitions and the like.

Long ago I had a bad experience with reflashing one of the original
Kindle Fire tablet.  The Android market would not successfully load.
I don't remember which OS that was.
