I just set up surfshark on a Linux box plus android, iOS and mac and I am happy with it.  They are based in the Netherlands which has stricter privacy standards then required by European GDPR.  They will protect the hell out of your data.

Remember, all you'd be doing by using (almost any) VPN for this purpose
is move the trust-chokepoint from your (under-)regulated internet

All joking aside: what's the _real_ thing you're trying to accomplish?

If it's anonymity you are truly after (your reasons are your own, and do
not need any justification), then you'll need TOR. You'll also want to
be careful to not leave any metadata around that could be linked to you
post/inter-factum, and never ever sign in into _any_ website at all
because then you tell them exactly who you are.

But if it's more an "increased peace of mind, and not feeding the
Surveillance Capitalism beast", you're probably better off with a proper
browser (Firefox, do not use chrome), armed with valuable extensions,
and (e.g.) a PiHole to do egress blocking of DNS requests.

Here's a short starter-list of extensions that can help you get going,
I'm sure others will be able to add to this list:

- NoScript
- Privacy Badger
- DeCentraleyes
- uBlock Origin
