As one of "those guys", although we're perfectly willing, I have to
admit it's difficult to get a hold of the right archivist to do a
restoration.
Plus even if you do there's a kind of bitrot with it. For example,
while you'll get the general idea of a video when someone re-uploads
something to YouTube, you'll get different data like a watermark and
lossy transcoding.
Never trust the mob for archiving. Maybe there's something to do with
the tragedy of the commons; I don't know.
