[PLUG] computing history on display in nearby upstate NY

This news story came across my social feeds because I'm an native of the Binghamton, NY area. The village of Endicott, NY near Binghamton was the original headquarters for IBM. Pretty much everything that made IBM "Big Blue" happened there. The company shifted downstate (Armonk) in the late 80ies and the area never really recovered. IBM is not renewing their lease on their last remaining office and will no longer have a physical presence in the area come November.

Why am I posting this? Some old IBMers are restoring vintage IBM hardware and have them powered on for handson displays! I never knew this existed- I may have to stop by next time I am up there-

Theres also exhibits of the area's other tech contributions in avionics and flight simulators.

If you looking for a nerdy road trip (on the way to Niagara?) stop by there and maybe the Corning Glass Museum (an hour west).
