I recently ditched my Comcast xfinity wireless router and purchased my
own cable modem. (I didn't like all the info that the comcast router
might be gathering, plus it broadcast hidden SSID's on a channel I
wanted to use.)
Hooked directly to my new cable modem, I can get 350 MBPS, which
slightly exceeds my contracted 300 MBPS connection rate. However, when
I plug in my brand new router (to translate the cable modems address of
74.xxx.xxx.xxx to 192.168.1.1), I'm only getting around 95 MBPS.
It doesn't seem reasonable to me that the brand new router
(https://www.newegg.com/tp-link-tl-r605/p/0E6-002W-006W7?Item=9SIA7ABJSG5198)
would choke the throughput so much.
I've turned off all the "extra" features of the router, but this had no
impact.
Anybody got any comments, ideas, or suggestions?
TIA!
