Re: [PLUG] Android Auto Dongle

Just to put this out there... my wife and I both have vehicles with built in wireless android auto and wired android auto. Without putting companies on blast, I will say that wireless does NOT work flawlessly in my experience. My wife has far more problems than I do but for me the biggest issue is that I reliably get disconnected going through some toll plazas and on some bridges. I'm based in Philly but regularly all over the mid-Atlantic for context.

When I get disconnected it's pretty easy to reconnect but usually I stay plugged in to trick charge. In my case, when I get disconnected the vehicle I have automatically switches to wired.

We've had almost no issues with wired AA and those vehicles are a bit older.

This is my way of saying. While have Android Auto is important, I can't say having the wireless version matters. You're not missing anything if you don't have it. I can't see how using a dongle is any better than a system where it is built it but ymmv.

Subject: [PLUG] Android Auto Dongle

I've been shopping for a new car lately.  Most cars now come with
Android Auto, but only the newer cars have wireless Android Auto.

I see that you an buy an USB Dongle that plugs into the car's USB port
and makes AA work wirelessly.  In theory, these would work seamlessly.
But I wonder if they actually work as well in real life.

Does anybody have any experience using these?  How well did they work?

TIA!
