This is the ideal time for me to extol the virtues of Void Linux, which
I've happily used since 2015. Void is a completely independent
distribution, with no reliance on Redhat, Debian or any other distro.
Void's rolling release system almost never screws up, so please don't
think badly of rolling release because of Arch, Gentoo and Funtoo. And
of course rolling release means you're always dealing with modern
software, and perhaps more importantly, modern libraries making it
possible to self-compile software.

Void has no training wheels. Command line commands are straightforward,
as is GUI stuff. Booting to CLI and booting to GUI are both easy.
Networking is a simple script that is portable to all distros. 

Void has packages for all major and most minor window managers and
desktop environments. Void does both X and Wayland. Packages for
Firefox, Chromium, the wonderful Qutebrowser, and lots of other
browsers. All sorts of email clients, including Mutt, Evolution and
Claws-mail, which suck less than most email clients. It has a package
for the dmenu menu system, which is a spectacular productivity enhancer.

Another of the millions of things I like about Void is that
configuration is logical. It might not be drag-n-drop easy, but you can
always figure it out, and you never need to fight their "easy" tools to
get what you want.

This is an ideal time to re-evaluate your distro and take a good, long
look at Void Linux!
