So Josh has actually started this.  We've got a skeleton for the
derived mode in svn, I just checked in the first scant few elunit [1]
unit tests, and we have the original code (which will only run in our
environment at our day jobs) in svn and ready to port.

If the group doesn't mind, since there are some Emacs users here, we
may continue to use this list to communicate about the work.
