I've been working several months on replacing RabbitMQ with an (optional) alternative driver in OpenStack. This is peer-to-peer, distributed and builds on ZeroMQ.

I just announced the code stable this week, in line with the conference presentation. Cloudscaling footed the bill on this, and for Zed Shaw's abstraction layer that made it possible.
