RE: Trade Fair ideas

Hi Adam...

Yeah, well OS/2 was (is still) years ahead of Windows and even had a major
corporation putting $$$ into marketing.... quality, it seems, has little to do
with world domination.

I don't really think we can compare Linux and Windows as you fellows seem
to be trying to do. There will probably always be people who require a simpler
operating system. Even if it does knock them out of their applications on a
regular basis. ;-) I also think we should hope that linux will never become
anything lesser than what it is and has been. I think what we all (Linux users)
really want is the respect we deserve for having good taste.

One of the most important things that needs to happen is for Linux, and other
alternative operating systems, to be available to the average consumer as pre-
installed systems on new low end PCs.

Nerds like you and I have no problem configuring our machines to boot whatever
systems we want them to. For the majority of people this is not the case.

Personally, I'm not a total fanatic about any one system, but I do get discussed
with Windows' instability. Still I use both Linux and Windows. My wife is not a
nerd and prefers Windows, as do the kids. I program for the Windows platform
for a living, so I can't escape it if I wanted to.... well, let's just say there's a lot
more good paying Windows work than Linux work... in this area, anyway...
hopefully things will change.

TTYL (Type To Ya Later),
Roger
