The card I am trying to use is a ESS1888, found on older Digital celebris systems. Nick -----Original Message----- From: Jason M. You may have to check out some card specific documentation. In the 2.0.x series of kernels it was /usr/src/linux/drivers/sound/Readme.cards. I know I have tried unsuccessfully to get my card working Ensoniq SoundscapeVIVO PnP (about 3 years old). My BIOS initialized the PnP part ok, but I found out from Readme.cards that for my card I had to download a special program called "ssinit" to initialize the motorola chip that it uses. It requires a "microcode" file called soundscape.co0 to initialize it. And I don't have that file, its not on the windows side (there is a program called ssinit.com, but no microcode file). Anyone else have this sound card ? Jason At 01:32 PM 7/6/99 -0400, you wrote: >I have been trying for a while to get sound on my Linux boxes.
