I swear by USR personally. I know there are some equivalents for less but USR is easy to come by and worth the bucks. Definitly stay away from WinModems even if you're running sindows. I have no experience with the PCI modems but I won't try them because there can't be any real benefit to putting a device that communicates no higher than 115,000Kbps (DTE) speed to a High Speed Bus. srm -----Original Message----- From: plug-admin@lists.nothinbut.net [mailto:plug-admin@lists.nothinbut.net]On Behalf Of ray beckler Sent: Wednesday, July 07, 1999 10:22 AM To: plug@lists.nothinbut.net Subject: Re: [Plug] Which modem to buy for Linux Daniel G Roberts wrote: > So ..it sounds like I should not buy > a winmodem > a pci modem > and probably stay away from USR modems Hmmmm... I've got a Dell OEM USR internal 56k with the V90 upgrades pulled from the Dell, installed in an old P166 Gateway. Works just fine in Linux, SCO opensever and sindows. ray _______________________________________________ Plug maillist - Plug@lists.nothinbut.net http://lists.nothinbut.net/mail/listinfo/plug _______________________________________________ Plug maillist - Plug@lists.nothinbut.net http://lists.nothinbut.net/mail/listinfo/plug
