Re: [Plug] please help

You don't have to log in as root just to run something as root...

use su(1) like this (to run linuxconf) [if you're in X, first open
a terminal -- and the export DISPLAY line is only needed if you're in X]:

[user@host dir]$ su -
Password:
[root@host /root]# export DISPLAY=:0.0
[root@host /root]# linuxconf &
[root@host /root]# exit

I rarely log in as root unless absolutely necessary...which is usualy once
or twice during the lifetime of the install. Not logging in as root
will help keep you from unintentionaly breaking your system. If you're
interested in more stuff that can help you, have a look at sudo:

It's a great little utility.
