On my SuSE 6.0 system I've (re)compiled the following: - egcs-1.1.2 - glibc-2.1.1 - kernel 2.2.10-ac12 And all other required tools, of course. I did notice a siginificant improvement in performance but, as Jason said, it's very easy to hose your system when rebuilding glibc. Do it well and you'll get a nicely optimized box. Do it poorly and you'll have a nicely optimized paperweight. - khill Morgan Wajda-Levie wrote: > > I don't use X-Windows much, so the only thing I would really care > about would be glibc. > > -- > Morgan Wajda-Levie > http://www.worldaxes.com/wajdalev > > _______________________________________________ > Plug maillist - Plug@lists.nothinbut.net > http://lists.nothinbut.net/mail/listinfo/plug begin:vcard n:Hill;Kevin tel;fax:215.283.4942 tel;work:215.283.4877 x-mozilla-html:TRUE url:http://www.quarterleaf.com/ org:The Sycamore Group;Enterprise Development Division version:2.1 email;internet:khill@quarterleaf.com title:Senior Application Architect adr;quoted-printable:;;580 Virginia Drive=0D=0ASuite 100;Fort Washington;PA;19034;USA x-mozilla-cpt:;-18560 fn:Kevin Hill end:vcard
