The CD-R HOW-TO mentions a list of HP cd-r's that are compatible with linux. Could you tell me the exact model that you are using ? Also coming to the USB part not being for the faint hearted, it is true. Even if you do enable USB support in the kernel, you will still end up having to write the driver on your own. In that case, Linux Device Drivers (the ORA book) is now hopelessly outdated. ORA had posted updates in their website, but they fail to capture all the differences since 2.0.x, for e.g. the change in struct file_operations. Is there other text (later) on Linux DD. They only way to get over the problem is to look into the linux source, which is very good for me (now that I have a driver working). bye. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Jaiwant Mulik Home : (215) 204-5775 Room 203, 1928 N Broad St. Email: jmulik@unix.temple.edu Philadelphia, PA : jmulik@hotmail.com USA 19121 : jmulik@acm.org ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Office hours : No currently scheduled hours, by appt. only.
