Evidently the xf86 daemon symbolic link was deleted by one of the install
scripts from another package. Thanks.

Look at your font path. You're not starting xfs when you reboot.
look in /etc/rc.d/whateveryourdefaultrunlevelis and fix it. If you
dont want to use xfs, setup your font paths the old fashioned way.
But then you cant use ttf's.
