OK, lets take a simple example: we have / (root) type ext2 and /boot type ext2. Let's say we want to check / (root). How do we run e2fsck on these filesystems when we are booted? mortis@voicenet.com on 10/04/99 09:55:02 AM Please respond to plug@lists.nothinbut.net To: plug@lists.nothinbut.net cc: (bcc: Thomas A Burba/USVISION) Subject: Re: [Plug] Scandisk You can use fsck -- specificly e2fsck. File systems check. One thing to keep in mind is to not have the file system mounted when you do this... modifying a file system while you are checking it is like russian roulette. k --------------------------------------------------------------------------- --- "Success covers a multitude of blunders." -- George Bernard Shaw mortis@voicenet.com http://www.voicenet.com/~mortis --------------------------------------------------------------------------- --- On Mon, 4 Oct 1999, Tom Joyce wrote: > > This past weekend a fuse blew and power to my system was lost. On reboot a message came up as it was mounting the drives and said something to the effect system was not shutdown correctly check forced. It went through and fixed the drives and rebooted with no problem.
