Re: [Plug] snowcrash/carmack

Well, he didn't exactly say that was his top priority or anything, just that he might take on VRML to make it not suck and that people were focussing too much on establishing VRML standards and not enough on actually making it viable.

15. I will never employ any device with a digital countdown. If I find that
such a device is absolutely unavoidable, I will set it to activate when the
counter reaches 117 and the hero is just putting his plan into operation.

Wow... the Almighty Carmack wants to make Snowcrash a reality. http://slashdot.org/interviews/99/10/15/1012230.shtml

In Carmack's on words "Making Snow Crash into a reality feels like a sort
of moral imperative to a lot of programmers, but the efforts that have
been made so far leave a lot to be desired."

Snowcrash is the only book I've read twice. It's got an awesome virtual
reality world, called The Strip. I've found that I'm far from the only
one who wants to make it happen.

Carmack is the 3d graphics engine genious of id (www.idsoftware.com),
creators of Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, and Quake.
