It'll be a lot easier to replace or upgrade the controller if it's not soldered onto the board. > Anyways, I am open to all suggestions, and all suggestions and pointers > are greatfully appreciated, thanks. They're still selling dual-PPro boards, and unless you're doing some serious page serving that'd be what I'd recommend. Figure $100 for the MB, $75/ea for 200MHz PPro w/256K, that's still a decent server for the money. Of course, if you're going to set it up as a Quake server then by all means grab a faster processor, but if you're mostly serving up static content then you'll saturate your NIC before you run out of cycles. Ars Technica (www.arstechnica.com) just released a new version of their system recommendations. Although aimed more at the gamer than the system admin, it's a good place to start. They have lots of motherboard reviews, and links to other sites with more "mundane" information. -- Just junk food for thought... _______________________________________________ Plug maillist - Plug@lists.nothinbut.net http://lists.nothinbut.net/mail/listinfo/plug
