RE: [Plug] Plea for help - Strange Communications Protocol

I'll give that a try and see what happens. Also, sorry 'bout the "root"
post. I'm in the process of configuring another Linux box and thought I had
changed the user name. Oops.

Now, another set of questions...Has anyone successfully installed Oracle 8i
or 8.0.5 for Linux? If so, how? The instructions are extremely convoluted
(asking for mount point and such). The HOW-TO helped a little, but is still
unclear.

Thanks,

Charles

So you're dialing into this unix box & it's giving you some kind of menu
system ? That's not all that usual. Get out of it, then use those
commands. There should be some option somewhere to let you get out of it.
Or you could try hitting ctrl-c. Actually, I'd expect a prompt right
after the login to specify the terminal type (vt100, which is, by the way,
very common for a unix box).
