Could you remind us what you are trying to do and tell us a little more about
your systems/network? From what I can tell, the stated problem of getting two
nics to work has been fixed.....if dmesg and ifconfig are happy with eth1, they
are installed properly.
But getting the HW to work is only the start if your goal is ipmasqing. The
first thing is to recompile the kernel as described in the IP-Masquerade-HOWTO
(see http://www.linuxdoc.org/HOWTO/IP-Masquerade-HOWTO-3.html#ss3.1) Then a
copy of /sbin/ipfadm.......the HOWTO should cover it all, unless you are still
stuck on the HW.
