Re: [PLUG] Inexpensive PCI OpenGL video adapter?

I had the same problem with UT.
Here are a few suggestions that should fix your problem.
First and foremost , make sure that you DON'T have glide 3.x installed.
If you do , uninstall it and install glide 2.x. This won't affect Q3A , so don't worry
about that. UT will segfault if you are running glide 3.x and not glide 2.x,
uninstalling glide 3.x may completely fix your problem.
Make sure you check out http://linux.3dfx.com/  and get all of the latest drivers
for your card. Make sure that you have xdelta installed , if not , go get it at http://www.freshmeat.net
and install it (you need xdelta to patch UT). For UT installation and tweaks as well as required libraries,
Believe me , even though this link is to linuxnewbie.org , it has alot of advanced
information (about UT) that I would'nt have known if not for this FAQ.
After installing UT , you will want to patch it. Go to http://www.unrealtournament.com
and get the latest patch. If you installed xdelta already , just follow the instructions to
patch your UT binary. Make sure you have the UT cd mounted to /mnt/cdrom, otherwise
the patch won't work.

Once you get UT running , you may want to try a few mutators.
Head over to http://www.deepsky.com/~misaka/ and download his unmodunpack.pl , give it
exec permission (chmod 755 unmodpack.pl) and place it in your UT directory. To install a modpack,
just place the umod file in your UT directory and type "umodunpack.pl [umod file]" where [umod file]
is the name of your umod file. If you ever want to UN-install a mutator you can just delete the corresponding
.u and .int file from your UnrealTournament/System directory.

This article from Maximum Linux Magazine ,although it's not UT specific, will also help:

BTW: The current issue of Maximum Linux Magazine has a 5 page article on UT in linux.
and some of the info i wrote was taken from that article.

Hope this has helped ,
