Good KVM switches cost a bit more than $50. > I'm quite unhappy with the setup because the monitor cables appear to > be unshielded. Yep; Had the same problem with mine (I got an unpowered 4-way KVM [manufacturer: PCT] at the K of P computer show - ~$100; unfortunately, the common mouse port is now busted, so I need another one). You need shielded video cables for ... well, any *decent* resolution (decent being defined as anything more than 640x480, 16 colors). But unpowered switches can cause problems, too - when you switch to a different console, there's no signal to the other console ports. When I switch from Linux to my Windows machine, for example, the mouse goes all flooey, as Phoebe says on Friends - wanders all over the place in Windows. Because it had lost the signal, I believe. ______________________________________________________________________ Philadelphia Linux Users Group - http://plug.nothinbut.net Announcements - http://lists.nothinbut.net/mail/listinfo/plug-announce General Discussion - http://lists.nothinbut.net/mail/listinfo/plug
