Re: [PLUG] South Jersey Linux User's Group alive and well.

The other group is the one I created. We meet at the Camden County Library in Voorhees, NJ. Our platform is generic Linux/GNU, and we are focusing on certification. I was the original creator of SLUG 2 years ago, and was part of Jerry's group, but I had other plans and decided to go that route. I do not feel that we are in anyway competing with one another, because I purposely planned the meetings so they wouldn't interfere. Our group is newer, and we are about 15 strong as well, with two more added this week. There is also another group in SJ that I heard about, but never saw. I am not sure what they are about, but I believe they meet in Marlton. Our next meeting is on the 28th of March from 7-9, and the topic will be about the Linux File System. Our Cert Track is based upon the LPIC course.

Two are the same group...so really there are only two South Jersey Linux User's Groups. Chalk it up to the growth of Linux in our area. Until last week I didn't know that the other group existed. They are fairly new.

The name of both group, as of today, is the same,
SJLUG. Something will be done about that very soon.

At this time there are no plans to merge both groups
because there are differences in focus.
Our group, in Cherry Hill, focuses on Linux/GNU
applications. In that pursuit we attempt to offer
something for all levels of users; newbie,
intermediate, and advanced. The other group is more
focused on cross platform usability and
certifications...from what I know of them. However, I
cannot speak for them. The bottom line, for us, is to
be very GPL oriented.

Further inquiries are welcome.
