That's what it sounds like to me, but I'm no SCSI or scanning wizard.  I
was trying to get a scanner working one time with the cheap SCSI card it
came with.  I wasn't successful, but I was able to at least consistently
read the device on the card with 'cdrecord -scanbus'.  I forget, but it
seems like I might've had to reload the SCSI card module after a power
cycle on the scanner.  I can't remember.
