At home, I'm a single user, connected thru my personal firewall. And I almost ALWAYS log in as a normal user, and SU when I need to. Yeah, sometimes, it's a pain in the ass. Especially when installing new RPMs, or to burn a CD (the new GTK that Gnome 1.4 uses does not allow SUID programs, I'm told, so you must open a terminal, SU in as root, and start your CD burning application). But I figure it's better to be annoyed than sorry I screwed something up. Screwing up badly as a normal user is usually (somewhat) easily fixed. Screwing up badly as root, on the other hand, is not. ______________________________________________________________________ Philadelphia Linux Users Group - http://www.phillylinux.org Announcements-http://lists.phillylinux.org/mail/listinfo/plug-announce General Discussion - http://lists.phillylinux.org/mail/listinfo/plug
