What do you think ? I think it's a great idea. At one point in time, the Philly Perl Mongers group was meeting weekly. But that was because there were three different *types* of meetings going on. Not everyone showed up at every meeting, and that was intentional. Some people would show up occasionally at the tech meeting, others would just do the social meeting, etc. The only things I'd point out are: - having one big meeting a month helps people network (it's something *everyone* can plan on); that meeting has been in downtown Philly, which will probably remain the most central location for all involved - having multiple meetings in multiple locations (CCPHL, Netaxs) is a good way to draw more people into the group who wouldn't otherwise attend - moving the second meeting to another day of the week helps work around standing schedule conflicts There's a lot of knowledge and experience in the Philly area; you could probably book topics until March 2002 at 2x/month without trying too hard. :-) If the two venues were differently themed (1st week is about more general Linuxy topics, 2nd week is about more programmerly topics, etc.) then that might help cut down on the clash between the two meeting tracks. > you mentioned pads.. did you mention perl mongers? The Philly Perl Mongers meet almost exclusively on Mondays so as not to conflict with PLUG, etc. Occasionally that's moved to a tuesday for holidays and other such scheduling conflicts. > aiiiiighhhh how many meetings can one person go to? :) How many nights are in a month? Probably something less than twice that number. :-) :-) Z. ______________________________________________________________________ Philadelphia Linux Users Group - http://www.phillylinux.org Announcements-http://lists.phillylinux.org/mail/listinfo/plug-announce General Discussion - http://lists.phillylinux.org/mail/listinfo/plug
