I've had pretty good luck with both Megapath and DCAnet. Currently, I'm connected from home via Megapath and from a School I manage through DCAnet. Both are using Covad SDSL. I avoided ADSL and consumer-oriented services because I wanted a router and fixed IP, and didn't want to depend on a PC for any of it. Despite the higher cost ($130/month for 384k/384k SDSL) I'm pretty happy. Regarding Rhythms - watch out. I was a Northpoint customer prior to going to Covad with my home service. When Northpoint folded I was back to dialup for TWO MONTHS. HORRIBLE! Things to avoid include PPPoE and USB devices that pretend to be a network interface. Also, if you get a DSL device (router or bridge) that connects to your PC or network with ethernet you'll have fewer hassles. Good luck. jd At 06:00 PM 8/7/2001 -0700, you wrote: Greetings, Jeff Dean jdean@ieee.org
