Yes, that's correct, at least for my configuration, which boots from /dev/hde (a secondary IDE controller on the motherboard - an HPT370). : image="/boot/vmlinuz-2.4.2-2" : label="Linux" : read-only : root="/dev/hdb5" : append="hdc=ide-scsi" : append="hdd=ide-scsi" Change the lilo config and re-run lilo.
