you are missing  a font in that the bugger wants in the document.  I have 
seen this before.   gv can render it but ps2pdf is not smart enough to 
substitute fonts...

i have had this problem with generateing PS from kde.  KDE can use Type 3 
fonts.  ps2pdf cannot always.  Also fonts available in X are not always 
available to ghostscript....

i could be wrong, but this is what i have found causes problems in the past.
