My proposal is this: Why not make the Philly Public Schools > the subject of a meeting? My thought for a really interesting project would be to have a club of ten or twelve kids in Center City build a Beowulf cluster from cast off PCs in the school department with help from PLUG. Lots of learning, huge potential, and puts a lot of computing power in the right hands. In my dream picture, the project would use the unused cafeteria in the Free Public Library main building -- great publicity for all parties, good security so machines are safe, the library gets a slice of mother-huge processing power, and the kids learn that libraries are great places. Just a thought .... (No, I've never built a cluster.)
