You might try postfix (http://www.postfix.org) instead of sendmail. It's more secure and pretty easy to setup. There is a good how-to geared toward Redhat which might be some help (http://www.redhat.com/support/resources/howto/RH-postfix-HOWTO/book1.html). I'm using mutt with a dial-up so our configs will probably be close to same. Let me know if you have any problems.
