[PLUG] Setting up a additional IDE drive under linux

Greetings all.

Questions abound regarding the subject header. I cant seem to figure out how to mount and be able to use a second IDE drive.

Before I go crazy with searching the net or with messing around with man files I will defer to your experince.

I added the drive, I formatted the drive using fdisk, and it shows up when I hit "fdisk -l" However when I try to mount the drive... "mount -t ext2 /dev/hdb1 /whatever" it comes back with unable to read superblock... so what the hell is a superblock? How do I fix the problem and so on.

I need to share this drive via samba, but all my other drives that I mounted were via ext2 as well... so I didnt see the need to directly mount it with msdos.

Help me "recover" from my hard drive blues

Anthony
