The middle mouse button or actually using a menu (or keyboard shortcut) function? Does the latter work the way you expect under KDE and the former not? (If so, then your old Gnome did an evil, incompatible thing when copying between two instances of its terminal program to move the primary buffer into the clipboard buffer and paste that way when you clicked the middle buttong rather than do it the "right" way and just transfer the data directly. Hopefully, it was sane enough to only do this with other Gnome apps that new this bamboozling was in the works.)
