I got a Computer Engineering degree from Penn State (State College, PA). I loved Penn State. Their engineering school is very good. I learned a lot. Had LOTS or really smart people in my classes. Discovered Linux there (very popular amond Computer Engineering students for some reason). The campus is great. The football games are fun. When I graduated I was happy to get out, but it wasn't long before I missed it. I probably wouldn't want to go to a satellite campus though, but that wasn't really an option when I was there. I almost went to Drexel. The day I went down to get my dorm-room I realized that it just didn't feel right. Plus it would have taken longer and cost more money. good luck! -----Original Message----- From: Tim Peeler To: plug@lists.phillylinux.org Sent: 1/9/02 10:29 AM Subject: [PLUG] OT: Colleges This is off topic for the list, but I was hoping to get some input. I'll be finishing community college this semester and am looking for a good 4 year college to transfer to this fall. I've done some investigating on web pages for local schools, but haven't really found any that really spark my interest. What I'm really looking for is a good CS program. Alot of the schools I've looked at mainly have programs that are really geared toward computers in business (with the obvious business slant) or programs that produce droids. I want a program that does more than just teach various languages, I want something that has more to do with advanced topics and theory not just practical application (though practical application is needed). The school must have a good reputation of producing high quality graduates as well. Also, cost is an issue too. Since I'll be paying for it myself, I doubt that I could afford schools like UPenn.
