This looks like a bug in gnome-terminal, to me. For example: file://home/pls/test.html is correctly highlighted by gnome-terminal, and can be lauched in the web browser. Unfortunately, Mozilla doesn't like this format; it wants it to look like file:///home/pls/test.html I'd recommend reporting this to the GNOME developers.
