DSL doesn't dial up.  Are you sure the mail wasn't regarding their
dialup access?  Many ISPs which provide xDSL also provide dialup. either
as a freebie while you're waiting for installation, as regular service,
as backup service, or all manner of combinations of the above.

Does the service still work?  If so, you shouldn't have anything to
worry about.  In any case, you might want to drop a mail to the provider
verifying this.
