[PLUG] GDI Printers

Your post didn't say what kind of interface (Ethernet, USB, Parallel, Serial) the printer has. If the printer relies on direct 2 way communication (if its USB or serial assume this to be so) it's only going to work if hung from a computer with an appropriate driver. If "dir > LPT?" works with the thing (substitute the right portname) works with the thing hung on your windows box in a DOS prompt you should be able to get it to work at least as a line printer through SAMBA. Since its a GDI printer this will probably fail.

Hang the printer off of a Windows Server and install all of the drivers, if it doesn't support Windows NT XP and 2000, demand your money back. If you set your Windows print server up correctly it will push the right driver to your clients on the network when they try to use it. I have no idea if this feature is in any way implemented in SAMBA.
