[PLUG] PPPOE

I'm having trouble getting PPPOE up on a system running Kernel 2.4.18 / pppd 2.41.

In theory I should be able to get pppd to work without needing RP PPPOE, which isn't working, and I have had trouble downloading the source to try recompiling on my system.

The system was installed (as a minimal installation) from Slackware 8.0 and upgraded with the Kernel, Modules and the entire Network Package Set from the 8.1 beta.

My provider is Verizon -- although I'm considering switching (there are issues such as requirement to purchase a modem and about 2 weeks of service loss during the switch).
