[PLUG] nfs stale filehandle

I have been fighting a stale filehandle on our server. I am running rh 6.2
(can't upgrade, please don't ask :) ).

I am running nfs-utils-0.3.1-0.6.x.1, w/ kernel 2.4.18 and nfs 3 compiled
into kernel.

I'm running rh 7.2 clients running stock nfs and kernels for that distro
all on smp machines.

Quotas worked w/ 2.2.20 kernel running on rh server. Now I get stale
filehandles.

This is flaky as some clients work. Oh, when I remount a partitions on a
box where things have gone stale, I get a "Permission Denied".

I recently have added quotas to the mix. I have not enabled them, but I
did mount w/ both usrquota and grpquota.

I'm using ext3 everywhere w/ 2.4.18 kernel (yes, I changed this).

I think my ver of quotas supports ext3: quota-2.00pre3-2

I tried to compile a newer ver, but I got nasty errors:

[root@wernicke] /pkg/src/quota-tools> make
cc -DBSD_BEHAVIOUR -DRPC_SETQUOTA -DRPC -DALT_FORMAT -g -O2 -DEXT2_DIRECT
-D_GNU_SOURCE -Wall -D_LARGEFILE64_SOURCE -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64
-DQUOTA_VERSION=\"3.04\" -DHOSTS_ACCESS -c -o rquota_client.o
rquota_client.c
rquota_client.c:43: warning: `struct rquota' declared inside parameter
list
rquota_client.c:43: warning: its scope is only this definition or
declaration, which is probably not what you want.
rquota_client.c: In function `clinet2utildqblk':
rquota_client.c:48: dereferencing pointer to incomplete type
