[PLUG] Re: CDWriter hangs the computer during fixation

Hello fellow PLUGgers !

Sorry about the slow response - been tramping around Brimfield, MA
on vacation all last week.

Here's some more information about the CDWriter fixation ...

It's as CDWriter IDE 128 Rev.104, also known as a CW212 and is marked
CDWriter 12832 on the front of its case.

The XCDRoast is version 0.98alpha9(test-release) dated 7/18/2001

The IDE port is singular - Master & Slave; no secondary IDE port
exists - at least, it's not mentioned in the BOOK PC's manual
and there's no room for any more drives inside the box. Therefore,
I've gotta solve the problem without moving the CDWriter and the
hard drive to different IDE ports.

I'm running kernel 2.4.13-ac6, according to uname -a and also
according to what flashes by during a bootup.

Hope this helps you help me.

By the way, thanks for the tip about using contr-alt-F1 to reach
the console without rebooting ... now, how do I get out of the
console without rebooting ? I tried quit, stop, exit, all to
no avail ... only reboot gets me anywhere.

Best regards,
George Langford
