Verizon uses PPPOE, so be sure to chose that during the RH install (I 
believe it's still an option in the networking section of the 
install). Basically, you have to actually initiate the connection, 
same as you would on dial-up (so much for "always on" ...:-), and 
then close the connection when done. You'll almost certainly be 
getting a DHCP address over the PPPOE (don't worry; the PPPOE client -
 usually the Roaring Penguin client - takes care of all that for 
you).
