RedHat uses xinetd instead of inetd. xinetd uses /etc/xinetd.conf
instead of /etc/inetd.conf. In xinetd.conf, the /etc/xinetd.d/
directory is included. The net effect is that now instead of editing
one (larger) file, you get to edit a bunch of (tiny) files. ;-)
