Excuse me? BASIC has been around since 1964, which is a good 10 or 11
years before Microsoft came into being. MSFT just happens to have
written the most popular implementation of it in use today.
What other implementations are in use?
It sounds like the real reasons for groaning over such languages is a
lack of awareness.
