Re: [PLUG] ISDN

Paul:
Is ISDN the best choice for real-time voice-overs?

If all the customers have ISDN setups, it most assuredly is, if not.....

How is using dial-up ISDN different from using a 56k modem?

Reliable 128 K bandwidth normally, and it's available both for upload and download.

What are the odds that the current equipment used for voice-overs will support

It depends on how it's configured quite frankly. A radio station, or advertising agency
is likely to have the ability to transfer the audio from an ISDN line to whatever storage media it needs, and note that there is enough bandwidth for almost any audio work.

I don't know how much modern ISDN costs, but ISDN per month costs can go up quite high. There used to be sales of ISDN equipment on EBay of questionable provenance and reliability. I would hesitate to even guess. Oh yes, it costs more than most cable or DSL setups, and most implementations have per minute usage fees in addition to monthly charges.
