Istr that NetBSD's sort had a similar bug introduced accidentally
around the time sort(1) got taught about locale's (to get alphabetic
sorting right not just for LANG=C, but for all the ISO sets). It's
possible RH 6.2 has a similar bug.

Or you have an ultra-weird LANG setting. :^>
