RE: [PLUG] Yellow Dog install troubles

you may have to manually edit the bootloader --

/etc/yaboot.conf

is the file.

Boot into ydl and then check this file.

it is very lilo-like, but, it isn't lilo.

you should see the line

macos=/dev/<partition for os 9>
macosx=/dev/<partition for os X>

you will probably want to leave the lines

boot=/dev/??
magicboot=/usr/lib/yaboot/ofboot

alone. Also, this is a good place to change the whole "Welcome to Yellow
Dog Linux" on the boot screen to something like "Hello Dave" or whatever you
wish.

then, save the file and run (as root)

ybin

it is found in

/usr/sbin/ybin

Note: I am using YDL 2.1 (as I haven't had a chance to upgrade in a while),
so, some things may look a bit different.

good luck

Subject: [PLUG] Yellow Dog install troubles

Does anyone have experience with Yellow Dog Linux 2.3? I am trying to
install it on a G4 which also has OSX and OS 9.2 on seperate partitions.
When I get to the part where I install the boot loader it doesn't see either
of my mac partitions. Any help
would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Michael
