To all using KDE 3.0: Have you noticed that the speed of KDE 3.0 is significantly slower than 2.X?  Fixes? Thoughts?

I notice that my AMD K3-400 with 256M ram runs unacceptably slowly with RH7.3 and KDE (3?).  You click and wait.  Win98 runs much faster but I'm incredibly green, so I might be at fault.

I'm using Windows XP at the office and I've been using Windows 2000 at home since I use a lot of Windows-based apps for developing.  I'm slowly working on transitioning to using Linux (SuSE Linux 8.0) and doing away with Microsoft.  I've got to get Wine running so that I can hopefully install all of my Windows-based apps on Linux. There's a few articles I have posted at http://www.linuxprofessional.net you might find informative and interesting.  This is my "for fun" website that I just put up and am continuing to add to.  If anyone knows of a good article, please let me know.  Still no fixes for the sluggish KDE 3???

however, Ximian Evolution seems to be a perfect replacement for MS Outlook.

Damn near.  This was one of the apps that spurred building a linux box.  I do need a few Outlook features that aren't there but it's a good program.
