Hey, does your boss have pointy hair :)

Anyway, it is unfortunate that he feels that way about Linux, as I have
deployed it in many production environments without any issues (including
mission critical Oracle databases). That sort of prejudice will also steer
him away from BSD (which is another great OS). I guess if he is willing to
spend the dough, you can look into Solaris x86 (by Sun, who I am sure will
greatly appreciate his charitable contribution.)
