I didn't get to read all the The really ironic thing I'm finding about OS vs. commercial is that the commercial stuff is usually better career-wise for the admins. The upper management could really shave off some cost savings by using linux, but they don't really get it. The admins can guarantee more jobs for themselves and their friends if they push the commercial stuff b/c the department budget gets cut if it isn't all spent, and it's easier to justify more jobs on the commercial side as well. However, most of the linux advocates seem to be those who's jobs would be threatened if linux really caught on.
